Literature Text

"Hello."
"Hey."
"What's up? How are you?"

No one honestly wants to know how you are,
Because if you told the truth
They'd feel burdened.
You don't want to answer honestly,
Because "What If's" are racing through your head.

What if they don't care?
Well, you'll be more alone,
than you already are.
Are you willing to risk that?

What if they laugh and say "Ha. Funny joke." ?
They don't think you could be anything but happy
But your happy face is far from the truth, it's a well worn mask.
Can you live with them not believing? Could you laugh along?

What if they tell other people?
You'd be a freak and a target for evil jokes
Everything would get worse, and your trust will be shattered.
Can you get more broken?

What if they tell your parents?
Then they'll want to talk. They will never understand.
You'll be a crazy and forced to see a therapist...or worse.
Could you live through the looks on their faces?

What if the person you confide in is scared?
You will lose the person you thought you could trust.
You might hurt them.
Could you live with the fear in their eyes?

"Not much. I'm good." A smile. A lie.

What if they do care?
Someone will be there for you,
Someone could help you.

What if they cry and are concerned?
Then you know at least someone genuinely cares.
You will be safer with yourself, to never see them cry again.

What if they don't tell?
They could let you tell others yourself,
help you get help and then your trust would be restored.

What if they tell your parents?
Then your parents would know and can help you.
Never forget they love you, no matter what.

What if they aren't scared?
They pull up a sleeve and show their own scars.
Then you'll know without a doubt...

You're not alone.
When your about to tell someone about your self-injury a lot of negative things pop into your head. I know this for a fact I've been there. I've also seen the other side of things. When your fears are proven wrong.

Disregard your fears and the "what if's" Tell someone. They will help, reach out a hand and someone is willing to pull you up. If you need someone to talk to, note me I'm on nearly every day.
